- KIT & The City in Brussels
In the magical month of March 2024, the spotlight shines on the fresh Belgium away kit, stealing the show as one of Adidas' dazzling drops for the upcoming European Championship. The stage is set in Belgium's vibrant capital, Brussels. This snazzy kit pays homage to none other than everyone's beloved Belgian icon - Tintin! Yep, you heard it right. Even Tintin's iconic outfit, with his blue jumper and brown trousers, is reincarnated by the Rode Duivels....and me! As a young kit fashionista in the making, I was hooked on Hergé's comics and the thrilling cartoon sagas of Tintin. Who knows, maybe this kit will work its magic in the Euros - after all, anything can happen in the world of football! A day trip to Brussels is like stepping into a time machine, soaking in vintage treasures, relishing rich history, and devouring scrumptious local delicacies. And of course, ‘a pilgrimage’ to RB Classic Soccer Jersey's (Damien is a legend!) was a must. I snagged a classic Norwich kit to seal the deal. KIT & The City in Brussels #kitfashionista
- KIT & The City in Bremen
In November 2023, I already got a taste of the Euro's which are taking place in Germany. And I have to say it's the football and fashion fan's paradise! Forget the usual suspects like Berlin and Munich, it's time to shine a spotlight on Bremen. This gem is a treasure trove of shops, cozy bars, and football fever. Don't miss out on the vibrant green stickers, vintage stores, and the warm locals! A stadium visit is a must, since it's very impressive from a distance and especially when you get closer. Since I snapped up the Werder Bremen home kit earlier that year (Hummel, you did your magic) it was the perfect setting to snap some photos of this kit at the Weser stadium. Afterwards I enjoyed a dinner and drinks in a barrel (no, this is not a joke - see video for proof). I suggest strolling through the city streets, soak in the art, and mark "drinking in a barrel" off your bucket list! Next time, I'll take the boat to the stadium - and do some drinks in the biergarten near the stadium wearing a classic Werder Bremen kit since I dived into their kit history after my visit- doesn't that set your heart racing? - KIT & The City in Rotterdam
Rotterdam might just be a hop, skip, and a jump away, but boy, does it pack a punch! This year, I kicked off my epic KIT & The City tour, and let me tell you, Rotterdam is strutting its stuff more than ever! My journey began with a blast from the past - the vintage Feyenoord home kit from the '80s took center stage. With a 12-course feast lined up at Restaurant Trés, exploring Rotterdam before and after was a no-brainer for the pedometer. Starting near the iconic Erasmus Bridge, I found myself in an artsy neighborhood (hello, photomuseum!) with mouthwatering food and vibrant street art that made crossing the bridge a tough decision. But hey, a ticket to the Ai Weiwei exhibition at Kunsthal Rotterdam sealed the deal. After indulging in some retail therapy at chic designer stores, a cozy night's rest at Hotel Bruno Roommate set me up for a hearty breakfast and a peaceful visit to De Kuip stadium before the big match against Sparta Rotterdam. Next time/next stop: the fan store and a new stadium adventure! Will it be ‘Het Kasteel’ or the ‘Van Donge & De Roo’ stadium (or maybe both)? Rotterdam, you have a special place in my heart! KIT EXPO JUNE, 2024 On June 21st family, friends and co-workers were welcomed at the opening of the football kit exhibition and the grand launch of the KIT & website! The 3-day exhibition, held in the city centre of Amersfoort, titled 'ExpoSHAR - content with myself,' showcased my epic journey to self-love using several items from my collection of football kits to symbolize this. From keeping my unique kits hidden in the closet to hopefully inspiring people to ask themselves my daily question: which football kit will I steal the show in today? To hype up the event, a campaign was launched and kicked off a in May via Facebook, X and Instagram. This attracted attention of local media like In de Buurt, Tijd voor Amersfoort and local newspapers De Stad van Amersfoort and AD. Besides this online platforms Vrouwenvoetbalnieuws.nl and Panenka magazine shared the event. A week prior to opening and the launch, flyers were hung and distributed at various locations in the city centre and several people from the online kit community shared posts regarding the event. The exhibition drew a crowd of all ages and tastes, from die-hard fans to football skeptics. Yet, as they exited a common sentiment echoed among them all: "Who knew there was so much history and stitched and story behind a kit!"
